Introducing Surf & Sand: New Finishes Added to the Elements Series

Bakes & Kropp is proud to expand the Elements Series with two new finishes—Surf and Sand—introduced in celebration of Palm Beach Design Days, where we are honored to participate as both a sponsor and event host. Rooted in materiality and inspired by the quiet elegance of coastal living, the Elements Series reflects our ongoing exploration of finishes that feel timeless, tactile, and deeply connected to place.

Originally launched as a curated collection of signature finishes, the Elements Series was conceived as a versatile foundation—one that balances color, texture, and craftsmanship while allowing natural materials to take center stage. With the addition of Surf and Sand, the series evolves to include softer, lighter expressions layered over white oak, expanding the palette while remaining true to the Bakes & Kropp aesthetic.

Surf is a luminous white finish on white oak, inspired by the crest of a breaking wave. Light and airy, it allows the natural grain to remain visible beneath the surface, creating depth and movement without heaviness. Sand, by contrast, is a warm, grounded neutral that draws from sun-washed, wind-shaped dunes. Subtle in tone yet rich in character, it brings a sense of warmth and ease to any space, offering a lived-in softness that still feels refined.

Together, these new finishes complement the existing Elements palette—Drift, Fog, Mist, Steam, and Smoke—each inspired by the interplay of land, air, and water. From weathered white oak to richly toned walnut, the series offers a thoughtful range of finishes that support diverse design sensibilities while maintaining a cohesive visual language.

The introduction of Surf and Sand during Palm Beach Design Days underscores our belief in the power of material-driven design and meaningful collaboration. As a sponsor and host, we’re excited to share these new finishes with the design community—celebrating craftsmanship, creativity, and the subtle beauty found in well-considered details.

The Elements Series continues to take form, offering designers and homeowners alike a calm, versatile foundation—one that feels intentional, enduring, and unmistakably Bakes & Kropp.
